I love the Hendersonville malls its a great place to stay do shopping and restaurants

13 February 2016 @ approximately 7:30 p.m.

I went into my local ABC store in Laurel Park...I have been in there DOZENS of times and have been served by just about every person in there. However, tonight, I was in there with my wife(we are both well above 21). We made our selection, and went to the counter where we were received by a female behind the counter(I have been rung up by her before). She began ringing up my item and I had my ID ready to show her; as I said, my wife was with me. In the middle of ringing me up, she asked to see my wife's ID as well; this was surprising as this had NEVER happened before. My wife didn't have her ID on her because she wasn't purchasing anything, and it had never dawned on her to need it if she wasn't buying; no harm - no foul. As soon as my wife answered "I don't have my ID," our clerk noticeably took on a different demeanor; a demeanor that suggested that she was annoyed and/or suspicious. She sold me the alcohol anyway and we left. We went out to the car where I retrieved my wife's ID and went back in alone to show it to the clerk. I entered and told her that we didn't want her(the clerk) to think that we were pulling a fast one on her; so I showed her the ID. She said "thank you" multiple times but then still proceeded to lecture me on the legalities of the situation and the authority in which she had to ensure that NO ONE in the store attempting to buy alcohol was under 21. Let me begin by saying that, it is not what she said that was offensive; it was all true and I understood it...it was simply HOW she said it. She in all ways within her rhetoric and tone insinuated that that my wife and I were disrespecting her position and from what it seemed, that we were simply a couple of disrespectful young people(we're in our mid-to-late 20's) trying to buck the system. Long story short, the dialogue ended with me, saying that we would not shop at this particular ABC store in the future...Lord knows we don't want to put someone in the position where they could be, in her words: "put in fancy silver bracelets." Other than this particular clerk, we have never had a problem and have always been received well and in good standing by every employee at this ABC store. My wife and I are both public employees in service to the people of our communities and it is extremely important to us that we maintain respectable reputations in keeping with good, upstanding members of the community. This is why we found it offensive in her persistence. We understand the importance of keeping alcohol out of the wrong hands and the level of responsibility that comes with it. But it will still be nice to be spoken to with respect.
